Abstract: | There is international effort focused on the reduction of gaseous
emissions that contribute to global warming and atmospheric pollution. Ships
are responsible for a portion of this pollution contributing to environmental
degradation. Exhaust from marine diesel engines includes air pollution in the
form of nitrogen oxides, carbon oxides, unburned hydrocarbons and
particulate matter. These have been proven to have a negative impact on
health and the environment. Increasingly, these marine sources are being
targeted for reduction. |
