Abstract: | The global approach to NOx emission controls was taken by the
IMO whose Annex VI (Regulations for the Prevention of Air Pollution from
Ships) to Marpol 73/78 was adopted at a diplomatic conference in 1997.
Ships burning marine diesel oil and heavy fuel oil at that time were
reportedly responsible for around 7 per cent of global NOx emissions,
around 4 per cent of global sulphur dioxide emissions and 2 per cent of
global carbon dioxide emissions |
