Abstract: | This paper has as main objective the development of a new type
of composite rail sleeper, which satisfies the requirements of sustainability,
efficiency and environmental protection requirements imposed by the modern
tendency to apply the principles of sustainable development in all areas of
life. In this regard it is proposed a Y shape from fibber-reinforced foamed
urethane (FFU), that is completely recyclable, which makes the whole track
working as a truss, with higher resistance to buckling than conventional
track systems. In addition the Y sleeper has all the advantages of wood
sleepers without their shortcomings. |
