Abstract: The thesis "Research on using of advanced combustion systems by using homogeneous mixtures/partial homogeneous mixtures in compression-ignition engines" presents the state of the art of the accomplished researches made in this topic, the results obtained during the simulations made by the author and the results of the tests made in the test cell. Analyzing the state of the art the author highlights the advantages of the homogeneous charge compression ignition engines, like the huge reduction of the nitrous oxides emissions and the reduction of the fuel consumption compared to the gasoline engines. The results of the simulations are presented to highlight the influence of the engine speed and of the trapped burned gases on the combustion process and the influence of the intake valves closing moment on the pumping losses. The equipment from the test cell and the results obtained during the test are presented. The influences of the engine speed, of the injection timing, of the injection duration and of the exhaust valve closing on the combustion process and on the emission behavior are analyzed.
