Abstract: | The aim of this retrospective study was to analyze the spectrum of infections and the antibiotic resistance of the Enterobacteriaceae isolated from hospitalized patients. The most often isolated were E. coli (59%), Klebsiella sp. (24.7%) and Proteus sp. (12.3%). Enterobacteriaceae have been implicated in a wide range of infections, more often in urinary and wound infections. E. coli have presented higher levels of resistance to ampicillin (64%) and trimetoprim-sulfametoxazol (38.3%). In Klebsiella sp. and Proteus sp. there have been registered relatively high levels of resistance to the majority of the tested antimicrobials, except to imipenem and amikacin. The share of ESBL strains for the studied group was of 19.1%, being more present in E. coli (47.8%) and Klebsiella sp. (40.7%). |
