Abstract: | Pancreatitis is an inflammatory disease that affects all age groups, with lower incidence in children compared with adults. Despite it is low incidence at children pancreatitis caries a high emotional burden both to the parents and children.
The aim of this study was to highlight the correlations between laboratory parameters, abdominal ultrasound and diagnosis of acute pancreatitis at children admitted at the Children Clinic Hospital Braşov. We have enrolled a number of 11 patients that fulfilled the criteria of pancreatitis. At these children we have performed all the lab exams, and we have identified the existence of correlation between symptoms, elevated serum amylase levels and abnormal abdominal ultrasonography. Imaging examinations plays an important role in the diagnosis of acute pancreatitis. The incidence of acute pancreatitis is increasing in children. |
