Abstract: | Traumatic brain injury is a frequent medical condition that major affects the patient’s quality of life.
Sleep disorders represent important consequences of traumatic brain injuries, both in the acute or chronic
phase following the trauma. Posttraumatic sleep disturbances include hypersomnia, insomnia, narcolepsy,
sleep apnoea and circadian sleep-wake disorders. The aim of this study is to review the clinical aspects and
the epidemiology of these particular sleep disorders, the most important assessment tools (subjective
methods like scales or objective measurements like polysomnography) and their management. |
