Abstract: Ball bearings are one of the components that play an important role in the efficient operation of rotating machines, being the main source of the nonlinearity of these machines. This paper is approached a method of systematic management by the selective assembly, regarding the control over the radial clearance of radial ball bearings, in original condition/unassembled state, and the reduction of a scrap of the component elements. The paper addresses a genetic algorithm proposed in Mathcad, for application in the selective assembly stage, which is a procedure with the main purpose of eliminating the buffer stock, minimizing scrap from the assembly, and reducing manufacturing preparation time, regardless of the accuracy of the product required. The proposed mathematical model aims at the timely delivery of products with the quality requested by the customer, without having a buffer stock of finished products and reducing the complex operations of product processing, to obtain high precision. The developed algorithm can represent a procedure in quality management and simultaneously a premise of environmental sustainability.
